Primary Visual Arts Program
The Primary Art Room is the ideal space for students to develop their artistic expression in a supportive and enjoyable environment. The Primary Visual Arts Program is designed to challenge and encourage students to reach their full artistic potential. Through this program, students nurture their creativity and imagination while refining practical and fine motor skills. They learn to make thoughtful choices as they experiment with a variety of materials, tools, and techniques.
Alongside exploring diverse art mediums such as drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, clay, sculpture, and construction, students develop their ability to communicate through art. They also engage with the works of others and gain appreciation from renowned artists, laying a strong foundation for lifelong artistic learning.
Secondary Visual Arts and Exhibition Opportunities
Visual Arts students from Years 7 to VCE engage with a broad spectrum of media, including traditional drawing and painting, clay, 3D art, and cutting-edge digital technologies like iPad art and Adobe Photoshop. Exploring diverse art styles and movements, from Coptic Art to contemporary cultural perspectives, students build collaborative skills through project-based learning. Select Year levels participate in excursions to art galleries, enriching their understanding and appreciation of Visual Arts.
All students, from Primary to Secondary, have the chance to showcase their talents at the annual Arts and Design Technologies Exhibition, a vital event for celebrating achievement and inspiring new creative cycles. Additionally, the Visual Arts Club, held twice weekly at lunchtime, offers opportunities for students to explore self-directed art projects and participate in mural painting, further fostering artistic growth and community involvement.
Performing Arts
Our Primary Performing Arts Program offers a sequential journey where students build confidence and creativity by creating, composing, and performing. Younger students learn drama fundamentals and explore music, while those in Years 3–6 develop skills in improvisation, script work, and stagecraft to express ideas and emotions.
The Performing Arts Program fosters teamwork and offers numerous opportunities for students to grow as expressive individuals through concerts and assemblies, enhancing both their artistic and personal development.
ConcertsPrimary students have the exciting opportunity to take part in a whole-school production, experiencing firsthand the dedication and teamwork required for a large-scale performance. Choreography is thoughtfully created by classroom teachers, the Performing Arts teacher, and the students themselves. Throughout the year, students also showcase their talents at various events, including Open Nights, instrumental concerts, College assemblies, the annual Art Exhibition, and the Harmony Day celebration, providing many platforms for their hard work and passion to shine.
