What truly sets SMCO apart is our wholehearted embrace of Coptic Orthodox faith and tradition in daily school life. Our students participate in morning chapels, the Divine Liturgy, major and minor Coptic feasts, sacred hymns, and meaningful fasting periods, all of which nurture a living, personal relationship with God.

Weekly religion classes are thoughtfully designed for open discussion of contemporary issues through a biblical lens, equipping our students to defend and share their faith with wisdom and empathy.

College Expectations

SMCO expectations outline how we live our Christian values each day, fostering respectful relationships, responsible behaviour, and a safe, caring environment where students, staff, and families work together to support every child’s growth.

Respectful Relationships & Responsible Behaviour

At SMCO students are expected to behave in ways that ensure everyone in our community feels safe. They should act with kindness, respect, honesty, and self-discipline. They listen and follow instructions, wear their uniform with pride, use language that uplifts others, behave safely, and contribute positively in class, online, and at College events and activities.

Procedural Fairness

At SMCO procedural fairness means every student is treated with justice, clarity, and compassion. Behaviour decisions follow clear College policies and communicated expectations, with consequences applied progressively. Students and families are listened to, and each student has the opportunity to share their perspective before any decision is made.

Consequences

When expectations are not met, SMCO responds with respectful, fair consequences that guide students back on track. Depending on the situation, these may include reminders, warnings, withdrawal of privileges, detentions, internal or external suspension, or, in serious cases, withdrawal of enrolment.

Mobile Phones

Students may bring mobile phones for after-school contact with families, but they are not to be used or accessed during school hours and must remain in lockers. Recording or sharing images or videos of our community is only permitted for approved College activities. Posting on social media is not allowed.
